-and closer to the modern day it's made of increasingly light fabrics

Ruana

-iconic symbol of llanero warrior during British Wars > New Granadine War of Independence (1848-52)

-becomes iconic and very fashionable in British Isles in this era

-comes from Philippine Republic from twill made from Chinese

-and bashlyks died red for constitutionalism used during Young Russian Revolution (1902-8)

-spreads with pretty large Russian diaspora

-especially after it increases with Russo-Chinese War (1893-9) across Pacific

-and becomes common in France for a while after diaspora of Young Russian Revolution (1902-8)

Sombrero

-symbol of world-famous vaquero culture of United Provinces of Buenaventura

-and as such commonly associated with the country's identity

-famously worn by Giuseppe Garibaldi

Tuque

-red tuque is a patriotic symbol of Laurentian Republic

-because used by Heads of Laurentia > 1886-1888 François Mercier (Société des Laurentiens Unis) during Laurentian Republic > Laurentian Crisis (1886-8)
